Kazakhstan has been included in Vogue’s list of the 14 best travel destinations of 2025, earning rare recognition from one of the world’s most influential lifestyle and culture magazines. The ranking, titled The 14 Best Places Vogue Editors Visited in 2025, reflects the destinations that left the strongest impression on the magazine’s editorial team over the past year, DKNews.kz reports.

Alongside Kazakhstan, the list also features Kyrgyzstan, highlighting the growing global interest in Central Asia as a new and inspiring travel region.

Why Vogue chose Kazakhstan

Vogue editors pointed to Kazakhstan’s unique combination of dramatic natural landscapes, authentic culture and a dynamic urban environment. Particular attention was given to Almaty, which many editors described as an unexpected and memorable discovery.

One editor shared a personal impression in the article:

“This autumn, I finally traveled to a destination that had been appearing in my Reels feed for more than a year. After thirty hours of travel and two connections, I landed in Almaty, Kazakhstan — a place that rarely makes it onto ‘best of’ lists, even though it truly deserves to be there.”

Almaty: a city of contrasts

According to Vogue, it is Almaty’s contrasts that make it stand out. Editors highlighted:

  • modern architecture and vibrant urban spaces,
  • the stunning scenery of the Zailiysky Alatau mountains,
  • rich national cuisine and local flavors,
  • and the rare proximity of a major city to untouched nature.

As Vogue notes, Almaty allows travelers to spend the morning in stylish cafés and museums and be hiking in the mountains just a short time later — a balance few global cities can offer.

Kazakhstan on the global travel map

Kazakhstan’s inclusion in the Vogue ranking reflects a broader trend: the country is increasingly seen as an underrated destination worth discovering. Social media, travel bloggers and international media outlets are playing a growing role in introducing Kazakhstan to a global audience.

Experts believe that attention from a publication like Vogue can:

  • boost interest among international travelers,
  • raise Kazakhstan’s visibility as a tourism brand,
  • and support the development of cultural and urban tourism.

A new chapter for Kazakhstan’s tourism image

Being named among Vogue’s top travel destinations is more than just a line in a ranking. It signals a shift in perception. Kazakhstan is no longer a blank spot on the travel map — it is becoming a place travelers actively seek out.

For many around the world, Kazakhstan is now a destination to experience rather than a place to simply pass through.
