Kazakhstan and Iran are continuing to strengthen their diplomatic engagement amid shifting regional dynamics. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alibek Bakayev held talks with Deputy Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran Kazem Gharibabadi, focusing on key areas of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, DKNews.kz reports.

The meeting covered a broad range of issues on the bilateral agenda, including the strengthening of political dialogue, the deepening of trade and economic ties, and the expansion of cooperation in the transport and logistics sector. Against the backdrop of changing global supply chains, both sides emphasized the growing importance of connectivity and reliable transit routes linking Central Asia, the Caspian region, and the Middle East.

The diplomats also discussed cooperation within major international and regional frameworks, such as the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. These platforms, they noted, remain essential for coordinating positions, promoting dialogue, and addressing shared regional challenges.

Special attention during the talks was given to the implementation of agreements reached during the first official visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Kazakhstan on December 10-11, 2025. The interlocutors confirmed their mutual interest in ensuring the consistent execution of these agreements and in giving new momentum to bilateral cooperation in priority areas.

In parallel, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Arman Issetov held separate consultations with the Iranian delegation. These discussions focused on multilateral cooperation and interaction between Kazakhstan and Iran within international organizations, highlighting the importance of coordinated diplomatic efforts on the global stage.

The diplomats exchanged views on upcoming events within the framework of the United Nations and discussed cooperation related to the Caspian Sea, including regional stability and economic interaction. Current developments in the Middle East and the broader global situation were also addressed, reflecting shared concerns over regional security and international stability.

Following the meetings, both sides reaffirmed their strong mutual interest in continuing constructive dialogue and further deepening comprehensive cooperation between Astana and Tehran. Observers note that the active diplomatic exchanges reflect a shared intention to turn political dialogue into practical cooperation, particularly in trade, logistics, and regional connectivity across Eurasia.
