The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Spain, Danat Mussayev, held a meeting with Joan Groizard, Spain’s Secretary of State for Energy, to discuss key issues on the energy agenda and prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation, DKNews.kz reports.
Focus on Sustainable Energy Development
During the talks, the two sides exchanged views on a range of pressing topics, including sustainable development of the energy sector, energy transition, improving energy efficiency, and the introduction of modern technological solutions. These issues were discussed in the context of global energy transformation and growing climate challenges.
Kazakhstan’s Energy Policy Priorities
Ambassador Mussayev briefed the Spanish side on Kazakhstan’s state policy priorities in the energy sector. He highlighted ongoing efforts aimed at:
- modernizing the energy industry,
- diversifying the national energy mix,
- developing renewable energy sources,
- and strengthening the resilience of energy infrastructure.
He emphasized that Kazakhstan is pursuing a consistent course toward increasing the sustainability and technological advancement of its energy system.

Spain Shares Experience in Green Energy
Joan Groizard, in turn, expressed Spain’s interest in expanding dialogue with Kazakhstan in the energy field. He shared Spain’s experience in:
- advancing green energy,
- adapting energy systems to modern challenges,
- and ensuring energy security amid global uncertainty.
Spain is widely regarded as one of Europe’s leaders in the development and integration of renewable energy technologies.
Toward Practical Cooperation
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides confirmed their commitment to developing practical cooperation mechanisms and agreed to continue work on joint initiatives in the energy sector.
