Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Timur Tlegenov, held a meeting with Şebnem Cenk, the newly appointed Permanent Representative of Türkiye to ICAO, who paid a courtesy visit to Kazakhstan’s Permanent Mission, DKNews.kz reports.
The talks highlighted the growing cooperation between the two countries in the field of civil aviation and took place in a friendly and constructive atmosphere.
Mutual Support and Flight Safety
During the meeting, the parties discussed bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Türkiye within the ICAO framework, with a focus on:
- mutual support on international aviation platforms,
- flight safety,
- aviation security and compliance with global standards.
Both sides emphasized that aviation remains one of the most dynamic areas of Kazakh–Turkish cooperation.
“Friendly and Brotherly” Relations
Special attention was drawn to the friendly and brotherly nature of relations between Kazakhstan and Türkiye, as well as the high frequency of direct flights connecting the two countries.
The expanding air connectivity was noted as a key driver for tourism, business ties, and people-to-people exchanges.
Training and Technical Cooperation
The meeting also addressed practical aspects of cooperation, including:
- exchange of experience between civil aviation authorities,
- technical assistance and expert support,
- organization of training programs for aviation professionals.
The sides underlined the importance of capacity building and sharing best practices to further enhance aviation safety and operational efficiency.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both representatives agreed to maintain and further develop bilateral contacts, reaffirming their commitment to closer cooperation within ICAO and beyond.
