Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan Move to Deepen Strategic Partnership

A meeting was held between Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan Beibut Atamkulov and Uzbekistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhtiyor Saidov, focusing on the further development of bilateral cooperation and the practical implementation of agreements reached at the highest level, DKNews.kz reports.

During the talks, the sides reviewed the outcomes of the state visit of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as plans to implement the agreements and instructions adopted following the visit. Both parties noted that the visit gave new momentum to Kazakhstan–Uzbekistan relations and set clear priorities for future cooperation.

New mechanisms for regional cooperation

Beibut Atamkulov emphasized the importance of decisions adopted at the second meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, particularly the establishment of a Council of Regional Leaders. This mechanism is expected to strengthen interregional ties and promote practical cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting also highlighted the creation of working groups on rare earth metals and forecasting of transboundary rivers, areas considered strategically important for sustainable development and long-term partnership.

Coordinated agenda for the year ahead

Special attention was paid to the schedule of joint activities for the current year, including contacts at the highest and high levels, as well as upcoming meetings of joint intergovernmental commissions and sectoral cooperation mechanisms.

According to the participants, a coordinated and forward-looking agenda will help translate political agreements into concrete economic and infrastructural projects.

Commitment to alliance and partnership

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their mutual commitment to further deepening the strategic partnership and alliance between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The interlocutors stressed that close political dialogue and cooperation between the two countries remain a key factor for stability and sustainable development in Central Asia.
