The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yermek Kosherbayev, held a telephone conversation with Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia, Tanja Fajon, reaffirming the growing momentum in Kazakh-Slovenian relations, DKNews.kz reports.

The discussion focused on the current state of cooperation and future priorities, highlighting a steady political dialogue and expanding interaction across multiple levels.

Political trust and expanding cooperation

During the call, both sides noted the positive dynamics of inter-parliamentary and inter-agency contacts, as well as the consistent development of trade, economic and cultural-humanitarian ties. The ministers emphasized that regular high-level communication has become an important factor in strengthening mutual trust and translating political agreements into practical cooperation.

Kazakhstan praises Slovenia’s role at the UN

Yermek Kosherbayev congratulated the Slovenian side on its successful chairmanship of the UN Security Council in 2024–2025, highly commending Ljubljana’s contribution to the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms, as well as its efforts in conflict prevention across different regions of the world.

The exchange reflected a shared commitment to multilateral diplomacy and constructive engagement on global security issues.

Embassy opening and presidential visit mark a new phase

Both parties expressed satisfaction that the opening of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Ljubljana in October 2024 and the official visit of Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar to Kazakhstan in 2025 became clear milestones, symbolising a mutual determination to elevate bilateral relations to a qualitatively new level.

These steps, the ministers agreed, have created a solid institutional foundation for deeper political dialogue and broader economic and humanitarian cooperation.

Joint Statement as a roadmap for future engagement

Particular attention was given to the practical implementation of agreements reached at the highest level. It was emphasized that the Joint Statement of the Heads of State serves as a strategic roadmap for:

  • further deepening political dialogue;

  • expanding economic cooperation;

  • developing new areas of bilateral interaction.

Focus on practical mechanisms

In conclusion, the ministers underscored the importance of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation as a key mechanism for advancing concrete projects. They also exchanged views on pressing regional and international issues, confirming the alignment of positions on a number of global challenges.

Observers note that such regular diplomatic engagement reflects Kazakhstan’s broader strategy of strengthening ties with European partners and building resilient, forward-looking bilateral relationships.
