Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Arab Emirates Rauan Zhumabek held a meeting with Sultan Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR). The talks focused on political reforms in Kazakhstan and the future of expert-level cooperation between the two countries, DKNews.kz reports.
Tokayev’s reforms: focus on governance and social justice
During the meeting, Rauan Zhumabek briefed the Emirati side on the political and institutional reforms initiated by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the 5th meeting of the National Kurultai.

According to the Ambassador, these reforms aim to modernize public administration, strengthen social justice, and create new momentum for economic development. Kazakhstan is pursuing a gradual but systemic transformation, placing greater emphasis on accountable governance and stronger public institutions.
Think tanks move closer
Discussing prospects for bilateral engagement, both sides expressed strong interest in developing systematic cooperation between the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies (KISS) and ECSSR.

The parties confirmed their intention to deepen institutional partnership across a wide range of areas, including strategic and geopolitical studies, economics, sustainable development, climate issues, advanced technologies, and forecasting. Such cooperation is expected to enhance analytical dialogue on regional and global challenges.
Astana as a platform for global dialogue
The Emirates side confirmed its interest in participating in the Astana International Forum, which is increasingly positioning itself as a key international platform for discussions on global policy, economy, and sustainability.

In addition, the UAE expressed support for Kazakhstan’s initiative to hold a Regional Environmental Summit in Astana in 2026 with the backing of the United Nations. Climate and environmental issues were highlighted as areas of growing strategic importance for both countries.
Next step: online expert meeting
Following the meeting, the sides agreed to organize an online meeting between KISS and ECSSR. The goal is to work out practical mechanisms for further cooperation and to move from dialogue to concrete joint initiatives.

The expanding expert-level engagement reflects the broader trajectory of Kazakhstan-UAE relations, which continue to develop beyond diplomacy into long-term strategic partnership.
