Kazakhstan and Finland strengthen inter-parliamentary dialogue

Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Finland Azamat Abdraimov held a meeting with Laura Kamras, Director of International Affairs of the Parliament of Finland. The talks focused on deepening inter-parliamentary cooperation and expanding practical dialogue between the two countries, DKNews.kz reports.

Parliamentary ties as a pillar of bilateral relations

During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of further consolidating inter-parliamentary cooperation as a key element of Kazakhstan–Finland bilateral and regional relations. Special attention was paid to the prospects of organizing reciprocal visits by parliamentarians and revitalizing the work of parliamentary friendship groups.

Such contacts were described as an effective tool for strengthening political dialogue and building long-term mutual trust.

Tokayev’s reforms: a new stage of political modernization

The Kazakh diplomat briefed the Finnish side on the key points of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s address at the Fifth Session of the National Kurultai. He highlighted that the announced constitutional reform marks a new stage in the modernization of Kazakhstan’s system of public administration.

According to Abdraimov, the reforms are aimed at strengthening the role of Parliament, consolidating long-term political stability, and creating a solid foundation for the country’s future socio-economic development.

Finland welcomes Kazakhstan’s reform agenda

Laura Kamras expressed high appreciation for the domestic political reforms underway in Kazakhstan, noting their systematic and inclusive nature. She also underlined Finland’s interest in an active exchange of parliamentary experience and confirmed readiness for practical cooperation.

The Finnish side views inter-parliamentary dialogue as an important platform for sharing best practices and promoting democratic governance.

Looking ahead

Both sides confirmed their intention to maintain regular contacts and to give inter-parliamentary cooperation more practical substance. Strengthening ties between the parliaments of Kazakhstan and Finland is expected to further enhance bilateral relations and contribute to broader regional cooperation.
