Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the International Organizations in Vienna Mukhtar Tileuberdi held a meeting with Pere Joan Pons Sampietro, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE PA), DKNews.kz reports.
During the talks, the Kazakh diplomat provided a detailed overview of Kazakhstan’s upcoming large-scale political modernization, proposed by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the Fifth Meeting of the National Kurultai held in Kyzylorda.

A New Stage in Kazakhstan’s Parliamentarism
Ambassador Tileuberdi emphasized that the planned transition to a unicameral parliament, along with the establishment of the “Halyk Kenesi” endowed with the right of legislative initiative, marks a new stage in the development of Kazakhstan’s parliamentary system. According to him, these reforms are aimed at strengthening public participation and improving the effectiveness of governance.
He also noted that the final decision on the constitutional reform will be made by the citizens of Kazakhstan through a national referendum, highlighting the country’s commitment to democratic procedures and public involvement in political decision-making.

Support from the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly
In response, the President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly expressed interest in and support for Kazakhstan’s constitutional reforms. He also highly praised the active contribution of Kazakh parliamentarians to the work of the OSCE PA, noting their role in promoting dialogue and cooperation within the organization.
Observers note that the meeting reflects growing international attention to Kazakhstan’s reform agenda and underscores the country’s efforts to strengthen cooperation with international institutions in the field of democratic development.
