Kazakhstan and South Korea are giving new momentum to regional cooperation, as Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurgali Arystanov met with Governor of Chungcheongbuk-do Province Kim Young-hwan in the city of Cheongju, DKNews.kz reports.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to deepen interregional cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea, focusing on practical interaction at the regional level. The talks covered a broad range of issues related to trade, economic ties, as well as cultural and humanitarian cooperation. Both sides noted the positive dynamics in bilateral contacts, including the steady growth of tourism exchanges.
Chungcheongbuk-do is considered one of South Korea’s most dynamically developing provinces. With strong potential in industry, innovation and tourism, the region offers promising opportunities for building mutually beneficial partnerships with regions of Kazakhstan, particularly in investment, technology exchange and people-to-people contacts.

Culture as a Bridge Between Nations
A special highlight of the Ambassador’s visit was the official opening of a photo exhibition in Cheongju, dedicated to the history, culture and modern development of Kazakhstan.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ambassador Arystanov emphasized that cultural initiatives play a crucial role in strengthening mutual understanding and bringing the peoples of Kazakhstan and Korea closer together.

The exhibition features around 50 photographic works by Kim Sang-wook, Ambassador of Friendship of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan.

Through the photographer’s lens, visitors are introduced to the modern face of Kazakhstani cities, as well as the country’s rich cultural heritage and national diversity.

The exhibition is being held at the Cheongju Arts Center and will be open to the public until January 25, 2026.

Expanding the Partnership
The meeting in Cheongju and the accompanying cultural events demonstrate the growing importance of regional and humanitarian dimensions in Kazakhstan–South Korea relations.

Such initiatives not only strengthen diplomatic ties, but also create a solid foundation for long-term cooperation between regions, businesses and communities of the two countries.
