Beijing Supports President Tokayev’s Reform Agenda

Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China Shakhrat Nuryshev held a meeting with Liu Bin, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of China in the rank of Vice Minister. The talks focused on key political developments in Kazakhstan and the future of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, DKNews.kz reports.

Political reforms and the National Kurultai

During the meeting, Ambassador Nuryshev briefed the Chinese side on the main points of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s address at the Fifth National Kurultai. Particular attention was given to the large-scale constitutional reforms planned in Kazakhstan, which are set to be submitted for a nationwide referendum.

Nuryshev emphasized that the reforms are aimed at increasing the effectiveness of public administration, strengthening democratic institutions and building a “Just Kazakhstan” based on fairness, accountability and balanced governance.

China’s assessment and mutual trust

Liu Bin positively assessed the progress of political and socio-economic reforms in Kazakhstan. The Chinese diplomat noted the high level of mutual trust between the two countries, describing it as a solid foundation for further strengthening bilateral relations.

According to the Chinese side, Kazakhstan’s consistent reform agenda and political stability create favorable conditions for expanding cooperation across multiple areas.

Strategic partnership and future cooperation

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in further strengthening the eternal comprehensive strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and China. They also expressed readiness to expand political dialogue and promote cooperation within both bilateral and multilateral frameworks.

Observers note that such high-level diplomatic engagements reflect the commitment of Astana and Beijing to maintaining close coordination amid a changing international environment and to advancing long-term cooperation built on trust and shared interests.
