On January 20, 2026, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Kazakhstan Han Chunlin paid a visit to M.S. Narikbayev KAZGUU University. During the visit, he met with Chairman of the University’s Board of Directors Talgat Narikbayev. The Ambassador was accompanied by Counselor Jiang Zhongliang, DKNews.kz reports.
The meeting focused on the current state and future prospects of Kazakhstan–China cooperation, as well as the role of higher education institutions in strengthening bilateral relations.
Focus on China’s development and bilateral cooperation
Ambassador Han Chunlin briefed his counterparts on China’s socio-economic development, highlighting key achievements and strategic priorities. He also emphasized the positive dynamics of cooperation between China and Kazakhstan, noting that bilateral ties continue to strengthen across a wide range of areas, including education.
The Chinese diplomat highly praised the contribution of M.S. Narikbayev KAZGUU University to the development of educational cooperation between the two countries. According to him, during China’s “15th Five-Year Plan” period, Kazakhstan–China relations are entering a new stage marked by fresh historical opportunities.

He stressed that universities in both countries are well positioned to play a key role in this process by leveraging their academic strengths, deepening cooperation, and contributing new momentum to the modernization of both states and the development of the eternal comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Kazakhstan.
Universities as drivers of a new “golden thirty years”
Talgat Narikbayev, in turn, outlined the university’s main areas of activity and expressed readiness to further expand cooperation with Chinese higher education institutions. He noted particular interest in joint projects in the fields of law and artificial intelligence, which are of strategic importance to both countries.
He also emphasized that KAZGUU University is committed to contributing to a new stage of Kazakhstan–China relations, increasingly referred to by experts as a new “golden thirty years” of bilateral cooperation.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in strengthening academic ties and implementing joint initiatives aimed at reinforcing the eternal comprehensive strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and China.
