Starting from 5 January 2026, the KASE Clearing Centre will offer participants in the “partial collateral” category the opportunity to conclude transactions under post-margining conditions, DKNews.kz reports.
What is post-margining?
Post-margining is a transaction model based on the principle “trade first – collateral later.” Participants are granted an intraday limit within which they may submit orders and execute trades without posting collateral in advance. The final margin requirement is calculated at the end of the trading day based on the netting of all executed transactions.
Key benefits for your business
- Maximum capital efficiency: no need to post collateral for each individual order. This allows liquidity to be used more efficiently throughout the day, with focus placed on the final trading result.
- Reduced operational burden: collateral is posted once, following final netting, which reduces the number of transactions.
- Flexible control: an individualized approach to setting limits by market and by individual segregated accounts.
Eligibility criteria
Post-margining conditions are available to participants that demonstrate a high level of financial stability and have the status of a reliable counterparty.
Key requirements:
- Credit rating: not lower than “A-” by S&P (or an equivalent rating by other international agencies), or the highest internal rating.
- Reputation: a positive track record of fulfilling obligations.
- Capital: sufficient own capital in line with regulatory requirements.
Regulatory framework and timing
The mechanism operates in a clear and transparent manner:
- Trading period: transactions are executed within the established limit without posting collateral in advance.
- Margin calculation: the Clearing Centre determines the margin requirement under post-margining based on netting results.
- Settlement: collateral must be posted by 18:00 ALT on the same trading day.
- Important: failure to meet the requirements by 18:00 ALT on the same day will result in the participant being declared in default.
How to get started
- Send a request to customers@kase.kz regarding the possibility of applying post-margining conditions for your organization, specifying the selected market and accounts.
- Upon approval by the Management Board, take advantage of the new opportunities to scale your trading strategies.
