Kazakhstan is stepping up its economic engagement with Hong Kong, one of Asia’s leading financial and business hubs. As part of this effort, Consul General of Kazakhstan in Hong Kong SAR Bauyrzhan Dosmanbetov held a series of meetings with representatives of Hong Kong’s business community and key development institutions, focusing on investment projects and practical cooperation, DKNews.kz reports.
The talks highlighted growing interest in Kazakhstan not only as an investment destination, but also as a long-term partner in trade, technology and tourism.

Mining projects attract Hong Kong investors
One of the key meetings took place with representatives of China Kingstone Mining Holdings Limited. During the negotiations, Kazakhstan presented a number of mining projects to the Hong Kong company.
Given the company’s extensive experience in managing projects across the full cycle - from development to production and sales - the sides reached a preliminary agreement to continue discussions on potential cooperation. This signals rising interest from Hong Kong investors in Kazakhstan’s resource sector and industrial potential.

Focus on exports and trade growth
Trade and economic cooperation was a central topic during meetings with senior representatives of Hong Kong’s trade and investment institutions. The discussions focused on concrete steps to boost bilateral business activity and increase trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Hong Kong.
A particular emphasis was placed on expanding exports from Kazakhstan. The Consul General presented more than 200 export-ready product positions prepared by the Trade Policy Development Center QazTrade, showcasing the breadth of Kazakhstan’s export potential.
In response, the Hong Kong side invited Kazakhstani producers to take an active part in the Hong Kong Food Expo in 2026. The exhibition is seen as a major gateway for entering Asian markets and establishing direct contacts with distributors and buyers across the region.
Artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure in focus
Beyond traditional trade, the discussions also reflected a strong interest in future-oriented sectors. The parties emphasized the growing importance of artificial intelligence, information and communications technology, as well as modern trade infrastructure and logistics.
Within this context, representatives of Hong Kong’s trade institutions invited Kazakhstani companies to participate in the InnoEX forum, scheduled for April 2026. The forum is dedicated to innovation, advanced technologies and digital solutions, and is considered one of Hong Kong’s key platforms for tech-driven cooperation.

Tourism and hotel development opportunities
Tourism emerged as another promising area for cooperation. The Consul General noted expectations of a significant increase in the number of foreign tourists visiting Kazakhstan in the coming years.
In response, representatives of Hong Kong’s investment promotion agencies expressed interest in the construction of hotel complexes in Kazakhstan, highlighting strong potential for developing modern tourism infrastructure and hospitality projects.
What comes next
As a result of the meetings, the sides agreed to organize a visit by Hong Kong entrepreneurs to Kazakhstan in the first half of 2026. The visit is expected to help move from dialogue to concrete projects and further advance joint initiatives.
For Kazakhstan, closer engagement with Hong Kong means access to capital, technologies and global markets. For Hong Kong businesses, it opens new opportunities in a rapidly developing economy at the crossroads of Europe and Asia. Together, these talks point to a partnership built on practical interests and long-term growth.
