The Head of State emphasized that Kazakhstan attaches particular importance to the active development of an eternal and comprehensive strategic partnership with China. In this context, President Tokayev pointed to the successful implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative, which was first presented in Astana in 2013 by Chinese President Xi Jinping and has since become a cornerstone of regional cooperation.

China Remains Kazakhstan’s Largest Trading Partner

President Tokayev highly praised the dynamic growth of trade and economic ties between the two countries. He noted that China is currently Kazakhstan’s largest trading partner, with bilateral trade turnover setting new record levels year after year.

According to observers, this steady growth reflects the high level of mutual trust and the shared interest of both sides in long-term, sustainable cooperation.

Investment and Artificial Intelligence in Focus

Special attention during the meeting was given to investment cooperation. The President stressed that Kazakhstan consistently creates favorable conditions for attracting foreign investment and provides comprehensive support for joint strategic projects.

Tokayev also noted that the world has entered a phase of rapid development of artificial intelligence, in which China occupies a leading position. In this regard, he expressed Kazakhstan’s strong interest in expanding practical cooperation with the Chinese side in this field, viewing it as a key driver of future economic growth.

Chinese Business Perspective

Cai Guanshen thanked the President for the warm reception and spoke highly of Kazakhstan as a reliable and attractive investment jurisdiction, particularly in the financial sector. According to him, the country offers a stable and predictable environment for long-term investors.

He emphasized that consistent support from President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President Xi Jinping has played an important role in strengthening confidence among Chinese businesses and fostering closer economic ties.

Broad Agenda for Future Cooperation

During the meeting, the parties also discussed promising areas of cooperation in finance, energy, digitalization, healthcare, agriculture, and construction.

Experts note that the wide scope of topics reflects a shift from isolated projects toward a more comprehensive and forward-looking partnership. The meeting in Astana underscored that Kazakhstan and China are not only focused on current trade indicators but are also working together to shape an economy of the future, driven by investment, technology, and innovation.
