Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan strengthen strategic ties

Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening allied relations and expanding strategic dialogue following high-level talks in Bishkek, DKNews.kz reports.

As part of his official visit, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Yermek Kosherbayev was received by President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, highlighting the close political coordination between the two neighboring states.

Positive momentum in bilateral ties

During the meeting, President Japarov expressed satisfaction with the steady progress in multifaceted cooperation between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. He emphasized the importance of further strengthening allied relations and maintaining active political dialogue.

In turn, Yermek Kosherbayev conveyed warm greetings from President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and briefed the Kyrgyz side on the implementation of agreements reached at the highest levels.

“I would like to emphasize that Kazakh-Kyrgyz relations have significant potential and, being filled with new qualitative substance, have been developing upward year by year. This is primarily facilitated by your regular political dialogue with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev,” the Minister said.

Trade and economic cooperation in focus

Kosherbayev underlined that expanding trade and economic ties remains a key driver of closer bilateral relations.

He noted that Kazakhstan continues to rank among the three largest trading partners of Kyrgyzstan. Current economic indicators reflect steady growth:

  • Mutual trade has reached about 2 billion US dollars
  • The two countries aim to increase trade turnover to 3 billion dollars

These targets reflect a shared commitment to strengthening economic integration and cross-border cooperation.

Coordination on regional and global issues

The talks also included an exchange of views on regional and international matters. Both sides highlighted the importance of close coordination within multilateral formats implying:

  • Continued cooperation within regional organizations
  • Joint approaches to international challenges
  • Support for stability and development in Central Asia

Commitment of brotherly nations

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to consistently strengthening allied relations between the two brotherly nations.

The talks underscored that Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan view political trust, economic cooperation, and regional coordination as key pillars of their strategic partnership.
