Kazakhstan and Tajikistan are strengthening strategic ties

Kazakhstan and Tajikistan continue to deepen their strategic partnership, reinforcing political dialogue and expanding cooperation across key sectors, DKNews.kz reports.

During an official visit to Dushanbe, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Yermek Kosherbayev was received by President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.

The meeting focused on the steady development of allied relations and future priorities in bilateral cooperation.

Focus on strategic partnership

President Emomali Rahmon emphasized the positive dynamics in cooperation between the two countries and highlighted the importance of maintaining close engagement.

He noted that relations between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan continue to evolve in the spirit of alliance and strategic partnership.

According to the Tajik leader, strengthening comprehensive interaction remains a key priority for both nations.

Message from President Tokayev

During the meeting, Yermek Kosherbayev conveyed warm greetings from President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and briefed the Tajik side on the implementation of previously reached agreements.

“I would like to emphasize that Kazakh-Tajik relations demonstrate stable and progressive development and possess considerable potential,” the Kazakh Foreign Minister said.

He also outlined current priorities and future prospects for bilateral cooperation.

Economic cooperation in focus

Particular attention during the talks was given to trade and economic relations.

Key priorities include:

  • Expanding bilateral trade and investment cooperation.
  • Implementing joint economic initiatives.
  • Achieving the strategic goal of increasing trade turnover to 2 billion US dollars.

Officials noted that economic ties remain one of the main drivers of partnership between the two countries.

Regional and international agenda discussed

The meeting also covered broader regional and global issues.

Both sides highlighted:

  • Close coordination within multilateral organizations.
  • Mutual support on international platforms.
  • Continued dialogue on regional stability and cooperation.

Observers say such high-level contacts reflect the growing importance of Kazakhstan–Tajikistan relations in Central Asia.
