Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral partnership following an official visit by Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev to Riyadh, DKNews.kz reports.
The visit focused on strengthening political dialogue, boosting investment cooperation and advancing joint projects in key sectors.
High-level delegation and central talks
The Kazakh delegation included senior officials and business leaders, among them:
- Chairman of Samruk-Kazyna Nurlan Zhakupov.
- Minister of Energy Yerlan Akkenzhenov.
- Representatives of state agencies and quasi-state companies.
The central event of the visit was negotiations with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.
The sides reviewed the current state and future prospects of the Kazakh–Saudi partnership.

Strong foundation of relations
During the talks, both ministers highlighted the positive dynamics of bilateral ties built on mutual respect and trust.
They reaffirmed their intention to:
- Strengthen political dialogue.
- Expand trade, economic and investment cooperation.
- Deepen cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
“Kazakhstan considers Saudi Arabia as a close and reliable partner in the Middle East and the Arab world. Our countries are united by a meaningful political dialogue, a high level of trust and proximity of positions,” Yermek Kosherbayev said.
Coordination on global and regional issues
The ministers also discussed key international and regional challenges.

They emphasized the importance of coordination within major multilateral frameworks, including:
- The United Nations.
- The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
- The Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia.
- The OPEC+ format.
Both sides agreed to continue close interagency cooperation on global issues.
Focus on investment and economic cooperation
Economic partnership was one of the main priorities of the visit.
Kazakhstan expressed interest in expanding Saudi investment in:
- Energy and infrastructure.
- Agro-industrial development.
- Green economy projects.
Prince Faisal bin Farhan confirmed Saudi Arabia’s readiness to intensify business ties and support practical cooperation.

Energy and investment discussions
During the visit, Kosherbayev also held separate meetings with key Saudi officials and business leaders.
Among them were:
- Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman.
- Investment Minister Fahad Al-Saif.
- ACWA Power Chairman Mohammad Abunayyan.
The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in traditional energy, renewable projects and green transition technologies.
New agreements signed
Following the visit, the sides signed important intergovernmental documents.
These include:
- An agreement on the promotion and mutual protection of investments.
- An agreement establishing a Kazakhstan–Saudi Coordination Council.

Officials say these agreements will create a stronger legal framework for expanding cooperation.
