Astana Ballet Theatre will present a special Gala Ballet performance on 6–7 March to celebrate International Women’s Day, DKNews.kz reports.
The evening promises a vibrant program combining classical masterpieces and contemporary choreography, accompanied by the theatre’s symphony orchestra under the baton of Chief Conductor Arman Urazgaliyev.

What audiences will see on stage
The program is designed to showcase a wide spectrum of ballet art — from refined classics to expressive modern works.
The first part of the evening will include:
- Choreographic miniatures.
- The ballet “Triumph” set to music by Pyotr Tchaikovsky.
The production was created by choreographer Ainur Abilgazina, for whom it became her first major large-scale work.
According to the choreographer, the performance celebrates the beauty and elegance of classical dance.

The program will also feature:
- Virtuoso solo and duet numbers.
- Spectacular costumes and stage design.
- Excerpts from world-famous ballets.

- “Spartacus” by Aram Khachaturian
- “Spring Waters” by Sergei Rachmaninoff
- “Giselle” by Adolphe Adam
- “The Swan” by Camille Saint-Saëns

A festive atmosphere dedicated to women
Artistic Director Nurlan Kanetov noted that the gala is designed to create a special праздничное настроение.
“Gala Ballet is a special evening event held in celebration of International Women’s Day. On the eve of spring, the theatre is dedicating this event to women, striving to create an atmosphere of warmth and inspiration.”
He added that the program reflects the artistic maturity of the troupe and highlights the continuity between tradition and modern ballet language.

Busy March program at the theatre
Astana Ballet will continue to delight audiences throughout March with several major productions.
Upcoming events include:
- The ballet-cantata “Carmina Burana” on 13–14 March.
- Symphony orchestra concert “Therapy. Jazz Night” on 21 March.
- Performances of “Orpheus and Eurydice” and the premiere of modern ballet “Bolero X” on 27–28 March.
The Gala Ballet is being held with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan.
