Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Yermek Kosherbayev held talks with Brazil’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mauro Vieira, who arrived in Kazakhstan on an official visit, DKNews.kz reports.
The meeting focused on expanding bilateral cooperation and strengthening political and economic ties between the two countries. The sides also discussed coordination within international organizations and multilateral platforms.
Political dialogue and international cooperation
During the talks, the ministers noted the steady development of political contacts between Kazakhstan and Brazil, including interparliamentary cooperation and regular political consultations.
According to the Kazakh side, this dialogue allows both countries to maintain close coordination on key regional and international issues.
“Kazakhstan views Brazil as a key and reliable partner in Latin America. Today’s talks confirmed the mutual interest in further deepening cooperation and implementing new joint initiatives,” noted Minister Kosherbayev.
The ministers also reaffirmed their commitment to resolving international conflicts through peaceful means in accordance with international law and the UN Charter.
Special attention was given to climate and environmental issues. In this context, Yermek Kosherbayev presented President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s initiative to establish an International Water Organization within the UN system.
Trade and investment in focus
Economic cooperation became one of the central topics of the meeting.
The parties highlighted the positive growth in bilateral trade, which reached 295 million US dollars in 2025. Both countries also pointed to significant opportunities for expanding cooperation in several sectors.
Among the priority areas discussed were:
- industry
- agriculture
- energy
- investment projects
- digital technologies
- water resource management
The ministers also emphasized the strategic importance of transport and transit routes linking Eurasia and Latin America.
According to the participants, Kazakhstan and Brazil have the potential to become important regional gateways for each other’s markets.
Business forum and new agreements
As part of the official visit, Kazakhstan and Brazil organized a business forum involving representatives of leading companies from both countries.
The event included:
- B2B meetings
- B2G negotiations
- discussions on joint investment projects
- talks on technological and agricultural cooperation
Particular attention was paid to high-tech agriculture and digital solutions.
Following the forum, several memoranda of understanding were signed, including agreements:
- between the agriculture ministries of Kazakhstan and Brazil in the field of livestock breeding
- between KAZAKH INVEST and ApexBrasil
The parties expressed confidence that the visit would give additional momentum to Kazakh-Brazilian relations and open new opportunities for long-term partnership.
