Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the State of Kuwait Yerzhan Yelekeyev held a meeting with Sheikha Ohoud Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah, during which the parties discussed prospects for expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation between Kazakhstan and Kuwait, DKNews.kz reports.
The talks focused on agriculture, food security, meat exports and investment opportunities in Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan highlights agricultural potential
During the meeting, the parties discussed cooperation in agriculture and the agro-industrial sector.
The Kazakh side emphasized that Kazakhstan is one of the world’s major grain exporters, supplying agricultural products to more than 80 countries. Ambassador Yerzhan Yelekeyev also noted that Kazakhstan has strengthened its position in the global oilseed market and recently entered the world’s top 10 exporters of sunflower oil.
Focus on food security and meat exports
Special attention was given to food security issues and opportunities for supplying Kazakh agricultural products to Kuwait and the wider region.
Representatives of Kuwait’s “Al Deira” company took part in discussions on exporting Kazakh meat products, including beef and lamb, to the Kuwaiti market.
The Kuwaiti side expressed interest in establishing cooperation with leading Kazakh meat producers and suppliers.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to organize a visit of Kuwaiti representatives to Kazakhstan in the summer of 2026 to explore partnership opportunities and hold meetings with local enterprises.
Investment projects and Alatau City discussed
The sides also exchanged views on cooperation in real estate and investment projects.
Particular attention was paid to the possible participation of “Al Ahd Al Mushtarak” company in infrastructure and investment initiatives in Kazakhstan, including the accelerated development project “Alatau City.”
The Kazakh side presented the project’s investment potential, special legal status and opportunities available for foreign investors.
Kuwaiti companies show growing interest in Kazakhstan
“Al Deira” operates in food distribution in Kuwait and supplies products to retail chains, restaurants, hotels and HoReCa sector facilities. The company is considered one of the notable players in Kuwait’s food distribution market and is currently exploring opportunities to expand imports of meat products from Kazakhstan.
Founded in 2001, “Al Ahd Al Mushtarak” operates in construction, real estate, facility management and interior design in Kuwait.
Both companies are part of the family business structure of Sheikha Ohoud Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah, a Kuwaiti public figure and entrepreneur known for projects in real estate, youth development and entrepreneurship support.
Why this matters
The meeting reflects Kazakhstan’s growing efforts to strengthen economic ties with Gulf countries and promote non-oil exports, particularly agricultural and food products.
The discussions also highlight increasing foreign interest in Kazakhstan’s infrastructure and urban development projects, including the strategic “Alatau City” initiative.
