Volkswagen is officially returning to the Kazakh market. Automotive group Orbis Auto has signed an agreement with Volkswagen China covering direct vehicle supplies and the relaunch of the brand in the country, DKNews.kz reports.
Sales are expected to begin in the second half of 2026. Kazakh buyers will be offered several new models, an official manufacturer’s warranty and a gradually expanding dealership network.
Which Volkswagen Models Will Arrive in Kazakhstan?
Four models will be introduced during the first stage:
- Volkswagen Bora;
- Volkswagen Passat;
- Volkswagen Tayron;
- Volkswagen Talagon.
The range will cover several market segments, from sedans to large family crossovers.
The vehicles will come from Volkswagen’s manufacturing facilities in China. They are produced at FAW-Volkswagen plants operated by the joint venture between the German automotive group and its Chinese partner.
The company stresses that all vehicles are manufactured in accordance with Volkswagen’s unified quality, engineering and safety standards.

Jetta Will Arrive Alongside Volkswagen
The standalone Volkswagen-owned Jetta brand will also enter Kazakhstan.
The company plans to introduce the VA7, VS7 and VS8. These models will target buyers looking for more practical and affordable vehicles for everyday use.
Jetta uses Volkswagen engineering solutions and forms part of the group’s global production system. The brand is expected to occupy a more affordable market niche and complement Volkswagen’s main range.
Why Volkswagen Decided to Return
Volkswagen is already well known among Kazakh motorists, although the brand’s official product range in the country has been limited in recent years.
Orbis Auto now intends to relaunch the brand by restoring stable supplies, expanding the model range and rebuilding a comprehensive service infrastructure.
“Volkswagen is one of the most recognisable automotive brands not only in Kazakhstan but worldwide. It has always had a strong customer base and a large community of loyal fans. The model range available in the market has been limited in recent years, so we are now relaunching the brand in the country,” said Orbis Auto CEO Dinara Iskakova.
According to Iskakova, Kazakhstan will receive several new models supplied directly from the factories.
“Our goal is to rebuild the brand’s permanent presence in the market and offer customers what they expect from an official Volkswagen operation: modern models, transparent purchasing terms and full manufacturer support,” Dinara Iskakova said.
Kazakhstan Is Viewed as a Long-Term Market
Volkswagen China considers Kazakhstan one of the region’s most promising automotive markets.
The company plans not only to resume sales but also to work with Orbis Auto on developing a modern dealership and after-sales service system.
“We view this market as a long-term priority and intend not only to increase vehicle sales but also to work with Orbis Auto to build a modern sales and service ecosystem that will become a benchmark for the entire Central Asian region,” said Volkswagen Brand China CEO Dr. Robert Cisek.
The export of China-made vehicles has become one of Volkswagen’s strategic priorities. Kazakhstan could play an important role in this strategy and potentially serve as a platform for further expansion across Central Asia.
Where the Vehicles Will Be Serviced
Volkswagen’s return will be accompanied by an expansion of its dealership network.
Orbis Auto plans to increase the number of Volkswagen dealerships in Kazakhstan to 22 by 2030. The company also promises a stable supply of genuine spare parts and servicing in accordance with Volkswagen Group standards.
Orbis Auto currently operates 67 automotive centres across 12 cities in Kazakhstan.

What Warranty Will Be Offered?
Officially imported Volkswagen vehicles will come with a three-year or 100,000-kilometre warranty.
Buyers will receive manufacturer-backed service support, access to genuine spare parts and maintenance at authorised dealerships.
What Volkswagen’s Return Means for the Market
Volkswagen’s return could significantly alter the competitive landscape of Kazakhstan’s automotive market.
Chinese brands have actively expanded across the country’s new-car segment in recent years. Volkswagen is now returning with China-made models developed and manufactured within the group’s global system.
Pricing remains the main question. Kazakhstan prices for the Bora, Passat, Tayron, Talagon and Jetta models have not yet been announced.
Volkswagen’s pricing strategy will determine whether it can once again become a mass-market brand in Kazakhstan or occupy a narrower position between popular Chinese vehicles and premium European models.
One point is already clear: Volkswagen is returning to Kazakhstan not with a single model, but with a full product range and a long-term development plan.
