Kazakhstan is expanding its diplomatic agenda.
Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev held a series of high-level bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Council of Foreign Ministers, focusing on trade, regional connectivity and strategic cooperation, DKNews.kz reports.
During the meeting in Cholpon-Ata, Kosherbayev met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, and Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov.
Kazakhstan and China review agreements reached in Shanghai
Talks with Wang Yi focused on implementing the outcomes of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's working visit to China on 15–17 July.
The ministers discussed the next steps in strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership and advancing agreements reached during the high-level talks.
Special attention was given to economic cooperation and initiatives discussed during the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai.
Pakistan partnership targets $1 billion in trade
During talks with Mohammad Ishaq Dar, both sides highlighted the strong political dialogue and the steady growth of bilateral economic cooperation.
The ministers reviewed joint investment projects, transport and logistics cooperation, and measures aimed at increasing bilateral trade to $1 billion.
Kazakhstan also thanked Pakistan for supporting President Tokayev's initiative to establish an International Water Organization to strengthen cooperation on sustainable water resource management.
Uzbekistan cooperation moves toward implementation
Meeting with Bakhtiyor Saidov focused on expanding bilateral cooperation and coordinating approaches to regional and international issues.
The ministers also discussed practical implementation of agreements reached during recent presidential and high-level visits.
