Kazakh Youth Dominates Asian Chess Championship

At the 28th Asian Youth Chess Championships in Shenzhen, China, young Kazakh minds put on a masterclass performance, capturing a staggering total of 13 medals—including six golds, one silver, and six bronzes.
Competing across Classical, Rapid, and Blitz formats, the Kazakh squad faced off against nearly 900 of the continent's sharpest young talents from 30 countries and territories. By the end of the tournament, Kazakhstan stood out as one of Asia's premier chess powerhouses.
Breaking Down the Gold Rush
The championship concluded on July 24 with nerve-wracking rounds in both Classical and Blitz categories, sealing Kazakhstan's best performance in recent history.
Here is how the medal haul unfolded:
Classical: Adinur Adilbek (Open U10) and Ramazan Tulegen (Open U12) conquered their divisions to take home Gold. Milana Filippova (Girls U12) and Alisher Abdssattar (Open U14) secured hard-fought Bronze medals.
Rapid: Adinur Adilbek proved his dominance early on by claiming his first Gold of the tournament in Rapid, making him a dual Asian Champion this year. Maksat Baisalbekov (Open U14) also seized Gold, while Amaliya Yedresheva (Girls U10) and Alisher Abdssattar (Open U14) earned Bronze.
Blitz (3+2): The high-speed finale saw Nurali Nurshin (Open U10) and Mariya Kholyavko (Girls U18) storm through their brackets to claim Gold. Nurmukhammed Yelemes (Open U10) snatched Silver, with Ramazan Tulegen (Open U12) and Dinmukhammed Tulendinov (Open O16) rounding out the tally with Bronze.
Outpacing Last Year's Record
This year's triumph marks a clear step forward for Kazakh chess. Just a year ago at the Asian Youth Championship in Bangkok, Thailand, the team collected 11 medals, 5 of which were gold.
By pushing that total to 13 medals—with 6 golds—in Shenzhen, Kazakhstan's youth development programs continue to yield world-class results on the international stage.
