Kazakhstan took part in an international competition. Saki Sateshov from Almaty and Yerlan Bitanov from Shymkent represented the country at the Mohammed VI International Competition for Memorization and Recitation of the Holy Quran in Morocco, DKNews.kz reports.

The competition was organized by the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs of the Kingdom of Morocco. This marks Kazakhstan’s second participation in the international event.

Participants From Dozens of Countries Joined the Competition

The contest brought together representatives from countries across Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas.

Participants came from Kazakhstan, the United Arab Emirates, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Brunei, Indonesia, India, China, Qatar, Kuwait, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Türkiye, Russia, Canada, and other countries.

The organizers invited 53 countries, excluding Morocco as the host nation.

Almaty and Shymkent Represented Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan was represented by two participants.

Saki Sateshov represented Almaty, while Yerlan Bitanov represented Shymkent.

Kazakhstan is taking part in the competition for the second time, continuing its presence at an international platform that brings together Quran reciters and scholars from different countries.

Winners Are Determined in Two Categories

The competition aims to preserve the tradition of memorizing the Holy Quran, improve proper recitation, and encourage compliance with the rules of tajwid.

Participants compete in two categories. The first focuses on memorization of the entire Quran, while the second involves recitation of a designated portion of the Holy Scripture in accordance with tajwid rules and performance standards.

The organizers also view the competition as a platform for strengthening spiritual and cultural ties among representatives of different countries.

Performances Are Evaluated by 10 Jury Members

The participants are evaluated by an international jury of 10 experts.

The panel includes six representatives from Morocco and four international experts, including prominent Quran reciters, Islamic scholars, and hafiz.

For Saki Sateshov and Yerlan Bitanov, the competition provides an opportunity to represent Kazakhstan alongside participants from four continents and compete on the same international stage with representatives of dozens of countries.
