Kazakhstan and Ghana Discuss New Agreements and Consular Ties

Astana and Accra are expanding their diplomatic agenda. Kazakhstan and Ghana have discussed new bilateral documents, the development of honorary consulates, reciprocal visits, as well as political and consular consultations, DKNews.kz reports.

These issues were raised during a meeting between Zhalgas Adilbayev, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, and Macrios Akanbenab Akanbong, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana to Ethiopia.

Kazakhstan and Ghana Consider New Bilateral Documents

One of the main topics of the talks was strengthening the legal framework between the two countries.

The sides discussed the prospect of signing a number of documents that could provide a more structured basis for further cooperation between Kazakhstan and Ghana.

At this stage, the discussions concern the possibility of preparing such agreements. No specific documents were reported as signed following the meeting.

The Two Countries Plan to Develop Honorary Consular Ties

The talks also focused on the development of the institution of honorary consuls between Kazakhstan and Ghana.

This issue was considered alongside the organization of reciprocal visits and the holding of consular consultations.

Such mechanisms could complement political dialogue with more practical channels of interaction between the two countries.

Political Consultations Could Become a Regular Dialogue Format

Kazakh and Ghanaian diplomats also discussed the prospect of holding political consultations.

Together with consular meetings and reciprocal visits, this format could become one of the mechanisms for developing bilateral relations on a more systematic basis.

The meeting took place following the appointment of Macrios Akanbenab Akanbong as Ghana’s new Ambassador to Ethiopia, where Kazakhstan’s diplomatic mission is headed by Zhalgas Adilbayev.

Kazakhstan and Ghana Seek Deeper Partnership

Following the meeting, the sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in further developing bilateral relations and continuing a regular dialogue based on mutual trust.

The practical areas of the agenda have already been outlined: new bilateral documents, honorary consuls, reciprocal visits, and political and consular consultations.
