Head of the Muslim Council of Elders Confirms Visit to Astana

Mohamed Abdelsalam has confirmed his participation. The Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders will attend the 24th Meeting of the Secretariat of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, scheduled to take place in Astana on October 7, DKNews.kz reports.

The agreement was confirmed during a meeting between Rauan Zhumabek, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the UAE, and Mohamed Abdelsalam, Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders.

Secretariat Meeting to Be Held on October 7

Rauan Zhumabek invited Abdelsalam to take an active part in the 24th Meeting of the Secretariat of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.

The Kazakh diplomat also expressed appreciation for Abdelsalam’s continued support for the activities of the Congress.

Abdelsalam confirmed his participation in the upcoming meeting and voiced support for Kazakhstan’s initiatives aimed at promoting interfaith and intercivilizational dialogue.

Kazakhstan and Muslim Council of Elders Expand Cooperation

The sides discussed the current state of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Muslim Council of Elders, as well as prospects for new joint initiatives.

Following the meeting, they confirmed their readiness to continue expanding cooperation and reviewed joint activities planned for the coming period.

For Astana, this means maintaining engagement with an international organization that has consistently supported the platform of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.

Abdelsalam Briefed on Qurultay Elections

During the meeting, Rauan Zhumabek also briefed his counterpart on the political reforms being implemented at the initiative of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The elections of deputies to the unicameral Qurultay, scheduled for August 23, were discussed separately.

The Ambassador linked the reforms to improving the system of public administration, strengthening state sovereignty, developing human capital, and modernizing institutions of representative government.

The next concrete step in cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Muslim Council of Elders will be the 24th Meeting of the Congress Secretariat in Astana on October 7, which Mohamed Abdelsalam has confirmed he will attend.
