Belgrade has reaffirmed its course toward closer ties. Serbia and Kazakhstan intend to expand cooperation across several areas, from energy and agriculture to digitalization, education and tourism, DKNews.kz reports.

The development followed the presentation of credentials by Kazakhstan’s new Ambassador to Serbia, Bolat Imanbayev, to Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić. Imanbayev was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Serbia in July 2026.

Vučić Returns to Agreements Reached After His Astana Visit

During the meeting, Aleksandar Vučić warmly recalled his recent visit to Astana and conveyed his best wishes to the President of Kazakhstan.

The Serbian leader reaffirmed his firm commitment to strengthening cooperation between the two countries and jointly implementing the agreements reached at the highest level.

For bilateral relations, this means moving from presidential-level talks toward practical areas of cooperation agreed by the two sides.

For his part, Bolat Imanbayev confirmed Astana’s commitment to preserving and deepening its trusted partnership with Belgrade.

Energy, Agriculture and Digitalization Move Up the Agenda

The economic part of the meeting covered a broad range of sectors.

Kazakhstan and Serbia highlighted agriculture, energy, digitalization and construction among the promising areas for further cooperation.

The sides also discussed collaboration in culture, science, healthcare, education and tourism.

The breadth of the agenda shows that bilateral ties are not limited to diplomatic dialogue. It combines sectors linked to business and investment with humanitarian cooperation.

Direct Flight Supports Links Between the Two Countries

The sides also pointed to direct air connectivity between the two capitals as a factor supporting closer ties.

The direct flight is particularly relevant for cooperation in tourism, education, culture and other areas that depend on regular travel between the two countries.

The meeting comes in the year marking the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Serbia.

Kazakhstan Expected at EXPO 2027 in Belgrade

Another topic was the EXPO 2027 International Specialised Exhibition in Belgrade.

Aleksandar Vučić welcomed Kazakhstan’s participation in the exhibition and wished Bolat Imanbayev success and productive work in Serbia.

EXPO has already featured in the bilateral agenda. Serbia previously invited Kazakhstan to take part in the exhibition in Belgrade.

Earlier, we reported on how Aleksandar Vučić’s visit to Astana brought Kazakhstan-Serbia dialogue to a new level and which areas of cooperation the two sides discussed.

The focus now shifts to implementing those agreements in practice — from energy and agriculture to digitalization, construction and Kazakhstan’s participation in EXPO 2027 in Belgrade.
