Astana and Beirut are strengthening diplomatic coordination. Kazakhstan and Lebanon discussed mutual support for their initiatives in multilateral formats and ways to deepen cooperation on international platforms, DKNews.kz reports.

Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Lebanon, Rasul Zhumaly, met at the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs with Salim Baddoura, Director of the Department of International Organizations.

Mutual support for initiatives at the center of the talks

One of the key topics of the meeting was coordination between the two countries in multilateral formats.

The parties discussed mutual support for Kazakhstan’s and Lebanon’s initiatives, as well as opportunities to further deepen cooperation on international platforms.

The statement does not specify which particular initiatives or candidacies were discussed. At this stage, the talks therefore concern the principles and mechanisms of diplomatic coordination rather than publicly announced agreements on specific issues.

Foreign ministries seek closer dialogue

The diplomats also focused on strengthening direct contacts between the foreign ministries of Kazakhstan and Lebanon.

The sides exchanged views on current issues on the international agenda and discussed continued coordination in areas of mutual interest.

Such a format allows Astana and Beirut to address bilateral relations alongside issues considered within international organizations.

International cooperation complements bilateral ties

Kazakhstan and Lebanon established diplomatic relations in 1993, while Kazakhstan’s diplomatic mission in Beirut was upgraded to a full embassy in December 2021.

Relations between the two countries extend beyond diplomacy. The sides have previously discussed trade, investment, humanitarian cooperation and reciprocal visits.

The latest meeting adds another dimension to that agenda — more systematic coordination on international platforms.

Kazakhstan continues its multilateral diplomacy

For Kazakhstan, engagement through international organizations remains one of the key instruments of foreign policy.

Talks with Lebanon are currently focused on mutual support and maintaining regular dialogue. The next practical step will depend on which initiatives the two countries choose to coordinate or advance together internationally.

We previously reported on the work of Kazakhstan’s Embassy in Lebanon and its efforts to strengthen ties with different regions of the country. That cooperation also covered economic, educational and humanitarian contacts between Kazakhstan and Lebanon.
