Passengers will no longer always need to call the Contact Centre. FlyArystan has launched a digital self-service system allowing travelers affected by flight delays or cancellations to review available options and manage changes online, reports DKNews.kz.

Passengers can receive a personalized link through WhatsApp or email and, depending on the circumstances, accept a new departure time, choose another flight or request a refund.

Notifications to arrive up to 72 hours before departure

If a FlyArystan flight is delayed or cancelled within 72 hours before departure, affected passengers will receive a personalized notification.

It will be sent through WhatsApp or to the email address provided when the ticket was booked.

The notification will contain key details about the schedule change, including:

  • Original departure time
  • Updated departure time
  • A personalized link to available options

Passengers will not need to create an account or provide additional information after following the link.

What passengers can do online

The personalized page automatically determines which options are available based on the passenger’s flight, ticket and type of schedule change.

Depending on the circumstances, passengers may see three options:

  • “Accept the new departure time” — confirm the rescheduled flight
  • “Change to another time or date” — select an alternative flight
  • “Request a refund” — receive a refund when permitted under the airline’s rules

The available options will therefore differ depending on the specific disruption.

Who can request a refund online

The digital service is available to all FlyArystan passengers regardless of where their ticket was purchased.

There is, however, an important difference when it comes to refunds.

Passengers who bought tickets through FlyArystan’s website or mobile application can request an eligible refund directly through the new digital platform.

Those who purchased tickets through travel agencies or online aggregators will need to submit their refund request through the original point of purchase.

What happens if a flight is delayed by less than five hours

The airline also highlighted an important restriction for shorter delays.

Under FlyArystan’s rules, a flight delay of less than five hours does not provide for involuntary rebooking without penalties or a refund.

In this situation, the digital platform will only display:

  • “Accept the new departure time”

Passengers affected by longer delays or cancellations may receive additional options depending on their ticket and the circumstances of the disruption.

Why the new system matters

Flight disruptions often generate a sharp increase in requests to airline contact centers, precisely when passengers need information and solutions quickly.

The new system moves part of this process online.

Instead of waiting for an agent, affected passengers can immediately see the options available specifically for their booking and select an appropriate solution themselves.

According to FlyArystan, actions through the platform take only a few seconds.

The system could also make disruption management more transparent because passengers can see their available choices directly rather than contacting the airline to determine what can be done with their booking.

Correct contact details become critical

The system depends on FlyArystan being able to reach the passenger.

Travelers are therefore advised to enter accurate and current contact information when making a booking, particularly the mobile phone number of the person who will actually take the flight.

Notifications may not arrive if:

  • The phone number is incorrect
  • The email address is incorrect
  • The passenger has blocked the sender
  • Previous FlyArystan emails have been marked as spam

Keeping these details up to date becomes especially important because the personalized WhatsApp or email message provides direct access to the self-service platform.

More control during flight disruptions

The new service changes how FlyArystan passengers can respond to delays and cancellations.

Instead of relying exclusively on the Contact Centre, travelers can manage many schedule changes independently from their phone or computer.

For passengers, the main benefit is speed. For the airline, shifting routine disruption requests to a digital platform could reduce pressure on support channels during periods of widespread schedule changes.

FlyArystan said it plans to continue developing digital services that give passengers more control over managing their journeys.
