Data engineering is now accessible in Kazakh.

A free four-week online course has been launched in Kazakhstan, offering training in SQL, Python, Apache Spark and Apache Airflow. There is no limit on the number of participants, and successful learners will receive a free certificate, DKNews.kz reports.

The program was developed by Astana Hub together with Blockchain & AI Technology Center (BAITC) and BigData KZ. The course is available through the Astana Hub educational platform.

Five modules cover the core Data Engineering stack

The course goes beyond a basic introduction to artificial intelligence tools. Its focus is on building the technical foundation needed to create data infrastructure for analytics platforms, machine learning models and AI solutions.

The four-week program is delivered entirely online in Kazakh and progresses from fundamental concepts to practical application.

Participants will study five key areas:

  • database fundamentals and SQL;
  • data warehouse design;
  • Python programming;
  • batch data processing with Apache Spark;
  • ETL workflow orchestration using Apache Airflow.

Video lessons are combined with hands-on assignments. Participants who successfully complete the program will receive a free certificate confirming the skills acquired during the course.

The program is open to beginners and students

The course is designed for a broad audience rather than experienced Data Engineers alone.

It is aimed at aspiring professionals, students pursuing technical degrees, data analysts and people seeking foundational knowledge for further development in technology and artificial intelligence.

The skills covered by the program can provide a starting point for further professional development in:

  • Data Analytics;
  • Data Science;
  • Machine Learning;
  • AI Engineering.

This makes the course particularly relevant for people considering a career in data but looking for an entry point in the Kazakh language.

Kazakh-language technical materials remain limited

One of the central features of the initiative is the language of instruction.

According to the organizers, high-quality technical learning materials in Kazakh remain limited, while demand for specialists capable of building and maintaining data infrastructure continues to grow alongside the adoption of AI.

«Today, data is becoming the foundation for the development of artificial intelligence, digital services, and technology-driven businesses. Therefore, training professionals capable of building modern data infrastructure is of strategic importance to the entire IT industry. Launching the course in Kazakh will make in-demand knowledge more accessible and enable aspiring specialists to develop a solid practical foundation for their future professional growth», — said Valeriya Te, Managing Director of Astana Hub.

Aidana Kaskyrbek, Director of the Blockchain & AI Technology Center (BAITC), also pointed to the shortage of professional technical content available in Kazakh.

«Data engineering is one of the key fields for those seeking to build a career in the tech industry. However, high-quality technical learning materials in Kazakh remain limited. By launching this course, we aim to make modern knowledge more accessible and enable more people to study data engineering in their native language», — said Aidana Kaskyrbek.

Organizers call it Kazakhstan's first comprehensive program of its kind

According to Sergei Samsonov, Co-founder of BigData KZ, the Data Engineering course is a new initiative for Kazakhstan's education sector and the country's first comprehensive Kazakh-language program in this field.

Its curriculum draws on practices used by leading Kazakhstani and international companies in data management, while the course is taught by professionals currently working in the industry.

Samsonov expressed confidence that the initiative would contribute to the school's broader mission: «Tech education in one's native language.»

The significance of the program goes beyond translating individual lessons into Kazakh. It offers a structured learning path covering several technologies widely associated with modern data infrastructure, from databases and programming to distributed processing and ETL workflows.

Participation is free, but applicants need a promotional code

There is no limit on the number of participants, and the course itself is free.

To join, applicants must follow @danakaskyr and @bigdata_kz on Instagram. Once their subscription has been confirmed, they will receive a unique promotional code that can be used to register for the program.

Course details and registration are available directly through the Astana Hub educational platform.

For Kazakhstan's technology sector, the initiative also expands the range of professional IT education available in the Kazakh language. The course gives learners an opportunity to move from database fundamentals and SQL to Python, Spark and Airflow without switching to another language for the core curriculum.
