Huawei has launched a tour of 48 universities across Kazakhstan to introduce students and lecturers to its international ICT Competition 2026–2027. The roadshow runs from September 8 to October 14, ahead of the national preliminary round later in October, DKNews.kz reports.

According to Huawei Technologies Kazakhstan, company representatives will explain entry requirements, selection stages and preparation opportunities for the information and communications technology competition.

Campus sessions focus on preparing for the competition

The roadshow is aimed at students and lecturers in ICT disciplines. The sessions give prospective entrants an opportunity to understand the competition’s requirements before national selection begins.

Held annually, Huawei ICT Competition tests participants’ ability to apply their technical knowledge to practical problems. It also brings them into contact with students and experts from other countries.

Sun Yaxu, General Director of Huawei Technologies Kazakhstan, said the university tour aims to encourage broader participation among Kazakh students.

“Huawei ICT Competition helps students go beyond university theory and test their knowledge in practice. This year, the roadshow will cover 48 universities in Kazakhstan so that as many students as possible can learn about the competition and try their hand at it. We see strong potential among young ICT specialists in Kazakhstan and want to create more opportunities for their professional development and international exchange,” said Sun.

National selection begins on October 30

The campus tour will be followed by national, regional and global rounds. Organizers have announced the following schedule:

  • October 30–31, 2026: national preliminary round;
  • November 27, 2026: national final;
  • March 2027: regional final;
  • May 2027: global final.

The roadshow serves as an introduction to that process, allowing students to clarify participation requirements and explore preparation options before competing.

Kazakh students earned network and AI awards last season

Kazakh students secured second place in the Network Track and third place in AI Innovation at the Huawei ICT Competition 2025–2026 global final in Shenzhen, China. The two categories focus on networking technologies and artificial intelligence innovation, respectively.

According to Huawei’s account of the previous season, it was the largest edition in the competition’s history, attracting more than 220,000 students and lecturers from over 2,000 higher education institutions across more than 100 countries and regions.

The competition complements Huawei’s work with universities through its ICT Academy program. Both initiatives focus on practical training, access to current technical knowledge and international exchange.

For prospective entrants in Kazakhstan, the campus sessions running through October 14 provide an opportunity to discuss the competition directly with Huawei representatives before the national preliminary round.
