Security chiefs from six countries met in Kazakhstan. Officials from all five Central Asian states and Azerbaijan discussed counterterrorism, illegal drug and arms trafficking, and transnational crime.
The meeting took place on September 14, 2026, in Burabay, DKNews.kz reports. Participants exchanged assessments of regional conditions and discussed cooperation to address security threats.

The meeting brought together the heads of Kazakhstan’s National Security Committee, Azerbaijan’s State Security Service, Kyrgyzstan’s and Tajikistan’s State Committees for National Security, Turkmenistan’s Ministry of National Security, and Uzbekistan’s State Security Service.
Discussions focused on maintaining regional security amid current threats, with terrorism and the illegal movement of drugs and weapons among the shared concerns.
The participants agreed to continue close cooperation to strengthen security and stability across the region.
