Diplomacy remains Kazakhstan’s priority. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev reaffirmed the country’s commitment to a balanced and peaceful foreign policy as eight new ambassadors formally began their diplomatic missions in Kazakhstan, DKNews.kz reports.
The ceremony took place at the Palace of Independence in Astana on September 18, where the diplomats presented their credentials to the Head of State. The event comes as Kazakhstan continues to emphasize dialogue and constructive engagement amid heightened global tensions.
Eight ambassadors presented their credentials
The ceremony formally marked the start of the ambassadors’ missions in Kazakhstan.
Credentials were presented by:
- Sameh Shehata — Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt;
- Christine Honegger Zolotukhin — Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation;
- Marje Luup — Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia;
- Salah Jaboob — Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman;
- Ferenc Czombos — Ambassador of Hungary;
- Braima Embalo — Ambassador of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau;
- Joseph Olusola Iji — Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria;
- Lars Thuesen — Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark.
The eight diplomats represent countries across Europe, Africa and the Middle East, giving the ceremony a broad geographical scope.
Tokayev: Kazakhstan is a peaceful country
In his welcoming remarks, Tokayev emphasized that Kazakhstan intends to maintain a balanced, constructive and peaceful approach to international relations.
The President linked foreign policy directly to the country’s domestic development, saying that external stability should create favorable conditions for reforms inside Kazakhstan.
«It is a very important event today for you as representatives of your appropriate countries, and for us, the Republic of Kazakhstan. I believe that we should be working together because Kazakhstan is a peaceful country. We carry out a balanced, constructive, peaceful foreign policy. Our aim is to create favorable conditions for pursuing reforms inside the country. I would like to assure you that the doors of the Foreign Ministry, as well as of appropriate governmental agencies, including my doors in the Presidential Palace, will be always open for you, because we need to stay together in this very much tumultuous and turbulent world», said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The remarks underline the connection Astana is drawing between diplomacy and its domestic reform agenda: reducing external risks while keeping channels of communication open with partners from different regions.
Astana keeps diplomatic channels open
The President also assured the ambassadors that Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry, government agencies and Presidential Administration would remain accessible to them during their missions.
This approach is consistent with the foreign policy message Tokayev has delivered at previous credential ceremonies. In March 2026, while receiving ambassadors from another eight countries, the President also stressed that international disagreements should be addressed through diplomacy and peaceful dialogue.
The September ceremony therefore signals continuity rather than a shift in Kazakhstan’s foreign policy course. Astana is maintaining active relations with countries belonging to different regions and political groupings while emphasizing dialogue as its preferred instrument in international affairs.
