Kazakhstan has expressed condolences to Dubai’s ruling family.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev sent a message to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum following the death of his brother, Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, DKNews.kz reports.
The message was addressed to the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai on September 21, according to the Akorda press service.
Tokayev highlighted Sheikh Ahmed’s contribution to the UAE
In his message, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum’s contribution to the development of the United Arab Emirates.
The President specifically highlighted his role in strengthening national security and supporting the country’s economic growth.
Tokayev also conveyed his sincere support to the Al Maktoum family at a time of mourning.
The message comes against the backdrop of close political and economic ties between Kazakhstan and the UAE. The relationship covers investment, energy, transport and logistics, information technology and agriculture.

High-level contacts between Astana and Abu Dhabi have remained active in recent months.
On September 12, Tokayev met Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi. The two sides reviewed progress on major investment projects in energy, transport and logistics, IT and agriculture.
During that meeting, the Kazakh President described cooperation between the two countries as multifaceted and reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s intention to continue strengthening bilateral ties.
The September 21 message is personal and commemorative rather than political, with Tokayev expressing support directly to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the Al Maktoum family following their loss.
