Kazakhstan has congratulated Saudi Arabia on its National Day.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev sent a congratulatory telegram to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, emphasizing the continued development of ties between Astana and Riyadh, DKNews.kz reports.
According to Akorda, Tokayev congratulated King Salman and the Saudi people on September 23, expressing confidence that bilateral cooperation would continue to strengthen for the benefit of both nations.
Tokayev highlights friendship between Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia
In his telegram, the President emphasized the multifaceted nature of cooperation between the two countries.
Tokayev expressed confidence that Kazakhstan-Saudi relations, developing in a spirit of friendship and mutual support, would continue to grow and serve the interests of the two peoples.
The Head of State also wished King Salman and the Saudi leadership success in their work and prosperity to the people of the Kingdom.
Astana and Riyadh are expanding practical cooperation
The congratulatory message comes as Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia seek to translate their political dialogue into more concrete economic and investment projects.
In 2026, the two countries have discussed cooperation in mining and metallurgy, critical minerals, infrastructure and investment. Bilateral trade reached $7 million in January–May, up 23% year on year, although the absolute volume remains relatively modest.
Diplomatic contacts have also intensified. In August, representatives of the two foreign ministries discussed preparations for upcoming high-level engagements and emphasized that future meetings should focus on concrete agreements and practical results.
Earlier this year, Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia also signed an agreement on the promotion and mutual protection of investments and an agreement establishing a bilateral Coordination Council.
The National Day message therefore comes against the backdrop of broader efforts by Astana and Riyadh to deepen their partnership beyond diplomatic contacts.
