A photo exhibition on the theme "Kazakhstan - 30 years of Independence" has opened on the central square of Lviv, Delovoy Kazakhstan reports.
The exhibition was organized by the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Lvov with the assistance of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Ukraine. The event was also supported by the Lviv City Council.
The photo exhibition shows important historical events on the way to the formation of an independent Kazakhstan. One of which is the closure of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site on August 29, 1991, on the basis of which about 500 nuclear explosions have been carried out for more than 40 years. As a result of these tests in Kazakhstan, more than 1.3 million people were exposed to radioactive fallout, flora and fauna were contaminated.
