Islamic Development Bank will continue its participation in social and economic projects in Kazakhstan

H.E. Mr. Berik Aryn, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Saudi Arabia, held a meeting with H.E. Dr. Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser, the President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group at the headquarters of the IsDB in Jeddah, Delovoy Kazakhstan reports.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the issues of strengthening cooperation between the IsDB and Kazakhstan, including the Bank’s participation in implementing socio-economic projects in Kazakhstan.

The parties also evaluated the possibility of interaction between the parties in promoting some Kazakh initiatives being taken forward within the framework of the OIC, such as the development of the Strategic Program Document “Islamic Infrastructure Integration,” which provides for the integration of transport and trade communications between the Member States of the Organization, and the establishment of the “OIC-15” Group, which should unite 15 leading Muslim countries in the field of science and technology to consolidate their efforts to ensure scientific and technological progress.

In addition, Ambassador Berik Aryn briefed on the main highlights of the State of the Nation Address of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev entitled “New Kazakhstan: Path of Renewal and Modernization.” The Kazakh diplomat noted that this strategic document presents a large-scale program of political reforms and several necessary socio-economic measures to overcome the negative consequences of the complex geopolitical situation in the world.

In turn, the IsDB President Muhammad Al Jasser expressed the Bank’s interest in further expanding cooperation with Kazakhstan and readiness to visit our country to discuss the possibilities of the Bank’s participation in new socially significant projects in Kazakhstan.

H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser also wished successful implementation of new large-scale reforms in Kazakhstan, initiated by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. According to him, the stability and prosperity of such a valuable member of the Muslim community as Kazakhstan serves the interests of the entire Muslim world.

It is worth mentioning that Kazakhstan became a member of the Islamic Development Bank after joining the OIC in 1995. Since 1997, one of the four regional offices of the IsDB has been operating in Almaty, responsible for coordinating the Bank’s activities with the Eastern Europe and CIS countries, Mongolia, and China.

With the participation of the IsDB, projects were implemented in Kazakhstan in different years for the construction of the Almaty-Gulshad highway, the reconstruction of the part of Karaganda-Astana road, and the equipping of the Center for Surgery, improvement of water supply in rural areas of the Karaganda region, construction of a new building of the Kazakh Humanitarian Law University and others.

Currently, the IsDB is participating in financing the project to construct the “Big Almaty Ring Road.”
