Samsung Electronics has taken a major step in the region - the company has officially launched the production of televisions and washing machines in Kazakhstan. For the South Korean tech giant, this is the first manufacturing cluster in the country - and one of the most significant industrial developments of the year, DKNews.kz reports.

The new production lines are operating at the Silk Road Electronics plant in the city of Saran, Karaganda Region. Today, the facility already employs more than 1,100 people - and this is only the beginning.

A Partnership Between Government and Business

The project is being implemented through a partnership between:

  • the government,
  • private investors,
  • and industry partners.

The goal is more than simple assembly. Kazakhstan is betting on developing machine building, localizing production, and strengthening technological independence.

For Samsung, this is a strategic foothold in Central Asia. For Kazakhstan, it means new capabilities, jobs, and export potential.

Production Capacity: The Numbers Tell the Story

According to the Embassy of Kazakhstan in the Republic of Korea:

  • annual capacity for televisions is 150,000 units,
  • for washing machines - 200,000 units.

The plant is already producing:

  • washing machines that support the SmartThings ecosystem,
  • Crystal UHD 4K, FHD, and HD televisions.

Since the start of mass production, the facility has turned out more than 42,000 units - including models featuring elements of artificial intelligence and user interfaces localized into Kazakh.

This matters: localization means more than translating menus - it signals long-term commitment to the market and to customer service.

What’s Next: QLED, New Models, and Global Standards

Plans already include:

  • launching production of QLED televisions,
  • manufacturing TV models from the 2026 lineup.

The embassy notes that the products meet Samsung’s international standards - the same benchmarks that apply across the company’s factories worldwide.

In other words, Kazakhstan is becoming part of Samsung’s global manufacturing ecosystem.

Why It Matters

  • Economy: more jobs, higher tax revenues, and growth across related industries.
  • Technology: knowledge transfer and development of local expertise.
  • Market: broader choice, stronger competition, and potentially more affordable prices.
  • Export: Kazakhstan gains a real chance to become a regional supply hub.

At the same time, the project strengthens the country’s role in global supply chains - particularly as Central Asia’s importance continues to grow.

Samsung’s manufacturing launch in Kazakhstan is not just about starting a conveyor belt - it sends a message:

Kazakhstan is becoming a place where not only raw materials are exported, but also high-value, technology-driven products are created.

If expansion plans move forward, the Saran facility could become one of the region’s key industrial case studies - and a powerful example of global corporations committing to the country for the long term.
