Kazakhstan and Japan signed an Action Plan for 2022-2023

Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tileuberdi held talks with the Foreign Minister of Japan Yoshimasa Hayashi, who arrived on an official visit to Nur-Sultan, Delovoy Kazakhstan reports.

During the talks, the parties discussed issues of bilateral political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation. It was noted that by the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, it had reached the level of expanded strategic partnership.

Following the meetings the Action plan for 2022-2023 years between two foreign ministries was signed.

Japan is one of the major foreign investors in the economy of Kazakhstan with a total investment of more than 7.7 billion  US dollars since 1993. According to the National bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in 2021, the volume of foreign direct investment from Japan amounted to 239.3 million US dollars.

There are 61 companies registered in Kazakhstan with the participation of japanese capital in such areas as manufacturing, construction, trade, transport and logistics, information and communications, financial and insurance activities, healthcare.

The bilateral trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Japan in 2021 amounted to 1.1 billion US dollars, 558 mln US dollars of export and 559 mln US dollars of import.
