The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission agreed with Kazakhstan's proposal to suspend until February 1, 2023 the requirements of paragraph 13 of the technical Regulations of the Customs Union "On the safety of wheeled Vehicles" concerning the obligations of equipping devices/systems for emergency emergency services ("SOS button") vehicles imported by individuals for personal use, Delovoy Kazakhstan reports.

Repeated appeals have been made to the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan with a request to resolve this issue. Earlier, in December 2021, the EEC Council decided to postpone the obligation to equip vehicles manufactured on the territory of the EAEU with these systems until July 2022. In addition, on April 15, 2022, by the decision of the Council, the deferral period was extended until February 2023, and this benefit also began to apply to vehicles imported into the EAEU countries by official representatives of foreign manufacturers.

The decisions taken are due to the problem of a shortage of chips.

At the same time, in the Russian Federation, citizens of the Far Eastern Federal District have repeatedly been unilaterally exempted from installing the "button" by resolutions of the Government of the Russian Federation. However, until now, the obligation to equip cars imported by individuals with an SOS button has been maintained in other countries, including the Republic of Kazakhstan.

- De facto citizens suffer from the presence of such a requirement, who incur significant costs for the assessment of compliance procedures, the installation of this "button". Given the problems with its manufacture, in principle, we must also find a supplier. We have applied to the EEC with a proposal to temporarily release from the obligation to "button" cars that are imported by private individuals for personal use, - explained the member of the EEC Council from Kazakhstan, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakhyt Sultanov.

It was also decided that the right to own, use, dispose of these cars is carried out exclusively according to the legislation of the countries in relation to such vehicles.

An extraordinary meeting of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission was held in Minsk today. In particular, it was decided to reduce the rates of import customs duties and the application of tariff benefits for certain types of agricultural equipment, parts and components for it.
