Participation of Kazakhstan in the work of INTOSAI

The Kazakh delegation headed by the Chairman of the Accounts Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan Natalya Godunova took part in the XXIV Congress of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), Delovoy Kazakhstan reports.

The event takes place from 7 to 11 November 2022 in one of the largest cities in South America, Rio de Janeiro. INTOSAI is the largest international audit forum, which was attended by delegations from more than 150 countries: heads of state audit departments, economists, experts in the field of public administration, control and social sphere, as well as representatives of the UN, the World Bank, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and others.

The congress participants discussed the role of information technology in the development of public administration and supreme audit institutions in achieving national goals. As part of the thematic program of the event, experts analyzed the problems of the public administration system and ways to solve them, international experience and modern methods for conducting inspections and transforming control bodies.

On November 9, the official opening of the Congress took place with the participation of the Government of Brazil, representatives of international organizations, Forum participants and heads of diplomatic missions accredited in the South American country. The President of the Brazilian Court of Accounts, Minister Bruno Dantas, President of the Federal Senate of Brazil Rodrigo Pacheco, Minister of Foreign Affairs Carlos Alberto França and Secretary General of INTOSAI, President of the Austrian Court of Accounts Margit Kraker addressed the Congress participants with a welcoming address. Brazil will chair INTOSAI for the next three years.

INTOSAI is an international organization of supreme audit institutions, established in 1953 to promote the development of cooperation between supreme audit institutions (SAIs) and the improvement of public audit throughout the world. INTOSAI includes 194 countries.

INTOSAI's activities and initiatives are primarily focused on strengthening and contributing to the creation of the necessary conditions for independent and effective SAIs, together with the United Nations and specialized organizations on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and on raising awareness of the important role of SAIs in monitoring the implementation of the Agenda days in the field of sustainable development for the period up to 2030.

In addition, much attention is paid to the development, maintenance and updating of standards and guidelines for auditing, as well as the promotion of initiatives to support SAIs and regions in order to build, develop capacity and enhance opportunities.
