From June 26 to 28, Almaty will be immersed in a celebration of Korean music, fashion, food, and business, DKnews.kz reports. Dozens of guests and stars are expected to arrive in the city for the large-scale Korea–Kazakhstan Culture and Trade Week. This event promises to be more than just a cultural festival — it’s a major platform for strengthening economic ties between Kazakhstan and South Korea.
12 Organizations, One Vision: Where Culture Meets Commerce
The scale of the event speaks volumes — 12 organizations from the public, private, and nonprofit sectors of both countries are coming together. The event is organized by the Korean Cultural Center under the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Kazakhstan, in collaboration with the Almaty City Administration.
Key supporters of the initiative include LG Electronics Kazakhstan, Shinhan Bank Kazakhstan, the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Almaty, the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), the aT Corporation (which promotes Korean agriculture and food exports), KOTRA, the Education Center under the Korean Embassy, the Republican State Academic Korean Theater of Musical Comedy, the creative ensemble Almaty Áuenдері, and the Almaty Korean National Center.
Together, these organizations aim to showcase not just Korean culture and products, but to promote deeper economic cooperation and people-to-people exchange.
Koo Bon Chul, Director of the Korean Cultural Center under the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Kazakhstan, emphasized:
"Kazakhstan is Korea’s largest trading partner in Central Asia, and both countries share a cultural heritage rooted in the Altaic peoples, which is reflected in similarities in language and traditions. I am confident that this major event, uniting culture and economy, will strengthen our partnership and cultural closeness."
K-pop, Mezzo, and Theater: A Three-Day Musical Marathon
The Republic Palace, one of Almaty’s most iconic concert halls, will serve as the main stage for the Korea–Kazakhstan Week. For three consecutive days, audiences will enjoy traditional Korean music, classical crossover performances, and popular K-pop.
- June 26 kicks off with the Central Asia K-Pop Cover Dance competition, where dance teams from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan will perform to popular Korean hits.
- June 27 features a special concert dedicated to two important anniversaries — the 80th anniversary of Korea’s liberation and the 180th anniversary of Kazakh poet and thinker Abai Qunanbaiuly. The performance will bring together the world’s oldest Korean theater, the Republican State Academic Korean Theater, musicians from Almaty Áuenдері, and Kazakhstan’s beloved crossover group Mezzo.
- June 28 promises a spectacular finale, as the South Korean K-pop group TNX and ACE, a member of Kazakhstan’s legendary Q-pop band Ninety One, take the stage together.
Exhibitions, Brand Zones, and Korean Beauty
While the performances unfold onstage, the foyer of the Republic Palace will host an equally vibrant scene. For all three days, LG and Shinhan Bank will operate branded zones, while KTO, aT, and KOTRA will showcase interactive booths dedicated to Korean consumer goods, beauty products, cuisine, and travel.
For Almaty residents, this is a rare opportunity to experience Korea up close — taste authentic products, receive expert advice, and take home a piece of Korean culture.
B2B and B2C Events: Business Without Borders
On June 27, the Rixos Almaty Hotel will host B2B meetings with one-on-one business matching sessions and export consultations. These meetings offer Kazakhstani companies the chance to connect with Korean partners, negotiate trade conditions, and build new commercial relationships.
From June 27 to 28, a B2C zone will operate at Mega Alma-Ata, one of the city’s largest shopping malls. There, Korean brands will present their products and services directly to the public through exhibitions, promotional campaigns, and giveaways.
Korea and Kazakhstan: A Partnership Beyond Diplomacy
The Korea–Kazakhstan Culture and Trade Week is more than a festival or trade show — it’s a symbol of the next chapter in cooperation between two nations, placing culture, commerce, and people at the center.
For three days, Almaty will not just host a series of events — it will become a living bridge between East Asia and Eurasia.
One thing is clear: this week is destined to go down as one of the most significant and dynamic events of 2025 in the realm of international cultural and economic exchange.
