Ambassador of Kazakhstan H.E. Mr. Kairat Lama Sharif met with the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Egypt, Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Delovoy Kazakhstan reports.
During the conversation, the Ambassador handed over the Egyptian Minister a letter from Mr. Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan, with an invitation to take part in the first meeting of ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States responsible for education, science and technology. On the eve of this event on December 1-2 this year, the COMSTECH Secretariat Headquarters in Islamabad will host a meeting of the Senior officials of participating countries to discuss the OIC-15 Dialogue Platform initiative.
On June 16, 2021, during the second OIC Summit on Science and Technology, President of Kazakhstan H.E. Mr. K.Tokayev proposed to hold a meeting of ministers of the OIC-15 countries in Astana in 2022, which should bring together 15 leading Muslim countries in the field of science and technology. The group is expected to be represented by the following countries: Kazakhstan, Egypt, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Malaysia, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Iran, Jordan, Qatar, Lebanon, Morocco, Pakistan, Tunisia.
It is planned that the OIC-15 Dialogue Platform will be a consultative and advisory mechanism, the purpose of which will be to develop recommendations for the development of science, technology and innovation, including active work as a link between political leadership, policy makers and the scientific community to development of practical measures to assist the OIC member countries.
During the meeting, the Kazakh diplomat and the Egyptian minister also discussed preparation issues for the next meeting of the Kazakh-Egyptian intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian, scientific and technical cooperation in Astana.
The Kazakh diplomat informed the member of Egypt`s Cabinet Dr. Ayman Ashour about the ongoing political and socio-economic reforms in Kazakhstan, as well as about the upcoming presidential elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan, which was reflected in the September Head of State Address to the people of Kazakhstan “A Just State. One nation. Prosperous Society".
As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to intensify cooperation and exchange of experience in the field of training qualified human resources for the needs of priority sectors of the economy.
