The second day of the XVI Eurasia International Film Festival began with a press conference by Kazakh director Eldar Shibanov, director of the film “Mountain Bow”, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival this year. With the screening of this actually debut full-length work of the author, now participating in the program of the National Competition of the Eurasia, the working program of the festival began yesterday. Interestingly, this event coincided with the birthday of the young director, Delovoy Kazakhstan reports.

The moderator of the meeting was a member of the selection committee of the festival, film critic, candidate of art history Inna Smailova.

In his answers to journalists, the author told about how it was possible to implement an absolutely independent project without any government funding, how it was possible to interest the selectors of the Venice Festival, get into the Central Asian Laboratory of Screenwriting from UNESCO and receive a grant under the Biennale College Cinema program. The story about the working moments of the creation of the painting was also interesting: how the team of like-minded people was selected and whether it was difficult to work on the set with children, as well as about the choice of the plot outline and the genre of the tape.

I must say that the film turned out to be bright and spectacular and was a great success at yesterday's viewing. The hall was full, and after the show the audience approached the authors with words of gratitude. The director really managed to combine the genre form of comedy with a serious author's statement. As a result, an important conversation turned out when the adult world, its problems, discord in the family are shown through the eyes of a child.

Film screenings continued at the Kinopark 10 Forum cinema. The films Beyond the Wall (Iran; directed by Vahid Jalilvand), Lily and the Sea (France – Iceland – Belgium; directed by Dinara Drukarova), Kerr (Turkey – Greece – France; directed by Taifun Pirselimoglu) were presented from the international competition. From the national – Mukagali (directed by Bolat Kalymbetov), Kyzyl anar (directed by Sharipa Urazbayeva), Summer will end soon (directed by Yana Skopina). And the out-of-competition program Special Event pleased the audience with the picture The Taste of melon in Samarkand by the first winner of the current festival (Prize for contribution to the development of cinema in Central Asia) Ali Khamraev, who heads the jury of the International Competition.

An out-of-competition short meter program has also been launched The Discovery of New Names. Young Kazakhstani cinematographers, just beginning their creative path, presented five films to the audience: One day (17 min., directed by Amir Shagilbayev), Rukh (30 min., directed by Mikhail Plisko), Korgalzhyn (20 min., directed by Azimzhan Dias), Gulmira (21 min., directed by Aynamkoz Emzharova), With a diploma in the village (28 min., directed by Samgar Rakhym).

Finally, in the Kazakh National Academy of Arts named after T. Zhurgenov successfully hosted a master class by Hana Makhmalbaf, director and screenwriter, daughter and pupil of the famous Iranian director Mohsen Makhmalbaf.
