Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Ethiopia, Permanent Representative to the African Union Barlybay Sadykov visited the region of Nations, Nationalities and Peoples of Southern Ethiopia, during which he was received by the Mayor of Arba Minch Markos Matewos, Delovoy Kazakhstan reports.
The Kazakh diplomat informed the interlocutor about the current economic reforms in Kazakhstan, the level of development of bilateral cooperation. He paid special attention to possible projects to increase trade with Ethiopia. In turn, the mayor acquainted the Kazakh diplomat with the economic potential of the region, noted promising areas of cooperation.
The Ambassador also held a meeting with Bogale Bitane, President of the Arba Minch Chamber of Commerce. During the meeting, he visited leading farms exporting avocados, bananas, papayas, mangoes, silk production and hand textiles. Ethiopian companies have shown interest in the visit of the delegation of the Embassy of Kazakhstan.
For example, the General Director of the silk production company «Bere Sericulture Production PLC» Hailu Geleta showed his export opportunities and invited Kazakh business to more active trade and investment cooperation.
In general, local producers are ready to cooperate with Kazakh business on mutually beneficial terms.
The region of Nations, Nationalities and Peoples of Southern Ethiopia is one of the 11 regions (states) of Ethiopia. The population of the region is more than 20 million people. Agriculture is highly developed in the state. The region is famous for its bananas, mangoes, avocados, papayas, etc.
