Legendary coal general Nikolai Drizhd would have turned 95 on December 29. His memory is honored in the Karaganda region. A memorial plaque was unveiled at the Lenin Mine in honor of the first director of the enterprise, DKNews.kz reports.
Nikolai Alexandrovich Drizhd was the first director of our mine. He took office in 1964. He was putting a new mine into operation: when he came, only 12 out of 170 acts were signed. Nikolai Alexandrovich Drizhd (1927 – 2022) was born in the Balakovo city, Saratov region. In 1953, after graduating from the Dnepropetrovsk Mining Institute, he was sent to the mines of the Karaganda coal basin. He worked his way up from the head of the mine site to the general director of "Karagandaugol".
Twice laureate of the State Prize, Honored Miner of Kazakhstan, corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, twice Knight of the Order of Lenin, Knight of the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, the sign "Miner's Glory".
