The Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan hosted the international conference "New Kazakhstan: economic development strategy", DKNews.kz reports.
The purpose of the conference is an expert discussion of topical issues of sustainable economic development in the context of building New Kazakhstan.
Well-known Kazakhstani and foreign experts attended the event.
Opening the conference, Director of the Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Temirbolat noted:
"The modern world has entered a zone of turbulence. The deterioration of international relations, the emergence of seats of major military conflicts, the high volatility of the energy and currency markets, the escalation of trade wars, and the growth of terrorism – all these are external manifestations of the ongoing tectonic shifts in the world. Being a part of the global system, Kazakhstan cannot stay away from these processes. As a response to the challenges of modernity, the President of the country, K.K.Tokayev, put forward the strategy of the New Kazakhstan. Its core is a new economic policy aimed at overcoming the systemic problems of the national economy – commodity dependence, low labor productivity, insufficient level of innovation, uneven distribution of income" Bakytzhan Temirbolat
Fully sharing the position on the importance of reducing Kazakhstan's dependence on raw materials, Deputy Chairman of the Kazakhstan Association of Organizations of the Oil and Gas and Energy Complex "KAZENERGY", holder of the title "Kazakstannyn Enbek Yeri" Uzakbai Karabalin elaborated on the large-scale projects currently being implemented in the field of petrochemistry. In his opinion, this is a turning point in the development strategy of the industry, which opens up long-term prospects for our country.
In his turn, Director of the Institute of Economic Policy Kairbek Arystanbekov shared his vision of ways to eliminate the existing negative factors and imbalances that block economic growth in the medium and long term.
"If these measures are taken, we will be able to achieve an increase in economic growth and a doubling of GDP" Kairbek Arystanbekov
According to Gregory Gleason, Professor Emeritus of the University of New Mexico (USA), the main objective of Kazakhstan's new economic policy should be the stability of the national economy in global economic processes, rather than GDP.
