From May 24 to May 26, 2023, the World Forum of Central Securities Depositories (WFC) was held in Prague and attended by more than 135 central securities depositories and securities registrars from around the world. In total, more than 300 foreign guests took part in the event, DKNews.kz reports.
This year, WFC was attended by top management and representatives of central securities depositories, national banks, the International Monetary Fund, European Central Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, international recordkeeping organizations Clearstream and Euroclear, stock exchanges and other companies.
Key topics of the event consisted of: long-term vision of industry development, facilitating cross-border investment flows, settlement efficiency, global post-trade and systemic risk, digital transformation of central securities depositories, FMI and DLT technologies, etc.
Also, a meeting of WFC Board was held within the framework of WFC, as a result of which the Deputy Chairman of KCSD Management Board, Yedil Medeu, was elected as the Chairman of this Board.
In addition, according to results of voting at AECSD's Annual General Meeting, KCSD has been elected as an organizer and host of WFC in 2025 for the first time.

It is expected that WFC in Kazakhstan will draw attention of foreign investors and financial institutions to activities of the Central Securities Depository as a new regional recordkeeping and settlement hub, which will affect the Kazakhstan role in international stock market positively.
WFC is a unique and reputable platform for exchange of experience and discussion of new challenges and opportunities in post-trading industry, where central securities depositories play a key role.
Generally, WFC is held every two years alternately by five regional associations: Association of Eurasian Central Securities Depositories (AECSD), European Central Securities Depositories Association (ECSDA), the Americas' Central Securities Depositories Association (ACSDA), the Africa & Middle East Depositories Association (AMEDA) and the Asia-Pacific Central Securities Depository Group (ACG).
