Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Sweden S.Nurtayev held a meeting with the Aron Emilsson, Speaker of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Riksdag (Parliament) of the Kingdom of Sweden, DKNews.kz reports.
The sides exchanged views on the current state and prospects for the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kingdom of Sweden, strengthening the role of the parliaments of both countries in strengthening cooperation in all spheres, mutual visits of parliamentarians.
The Ambassador of Kazakhstan informed the Swedish parliamentarian about the political changes in Kazakhstan and the democratic reforms carried out by President Tokayev in the country, emphasized the qualitative modernization of the institute of parliamentarism and its modern development in Kazakhstan.
The Kazakh diplomat stressed the special role of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening trust-based dialogue and cooperation between Kazakhstan and Sweden, and also expressed readiness to promote further development of inter-parliamentary ties at the level of cooperation groups in the parliaments of two countries.
Speaker of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Riksdag A. Emilsson, highly appreciated the political and economic reforms carried out in Kazakhstan and expressed readiness to make efforts to deepen inter-parliamentary ties at the bilateral level, as well as within the framework of international parliamentary organizations. The Swedish MP also asked about the state of trade and economic cooperation and stressed the special importance of the economy for the Kazakh-Swedish partnership.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue the practice of bilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation on issues of mutual interest and establish contact between the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Riksdag and representatives of the chambers of the Parliament of Kazakhstan.
